Policy Engagement

Building

IWWAGE’s policy engagement strategy operates in tandem with its evidence-generation & technical assistance mandate, ensuring that rigorous research translates into actionable, on-the-ground impact. Central to this approach is convening high-impact dialogues from technical workshops to policy roundtables that synthesise evidence,
foster consensus, and drive concrete solutions for women’s economic empowerment.

Through its strategic partnership with the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), MoRD, IWWAGE has strengthened and scaled flagship platforms such as Gender Samvaad and supported the generation of evidence for the nationwide gender campaign- Nayi Chetna. These initiatives function as structured policy–practice interfaces, ensuring that the voices and lived experiences of SHG women inform programme design, operational strategies, and national-level policy discourse.

IWWAGE provides knowledge support to the Ministry of Women and Child Development facilitating inter-ministerial linkages to improve the Female Labour Force Participation Rates. This work aims to cement women-led development as the cornerstone of Viksit Bharat 2047, creating a clear implementation pathway for systemic, scalable change.

Globally, IWWAGE amplifies the perspectives of Indian and South Asian women through networks such as the Global Alliance for Care, and leverages influential platforms including the G20, the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the Asia Pacific Care Forum among others. This positions Global South priorities at the centre of international discourse, particularly for embedding care as a core pillar of macroeconomic planning.

Across all efforts, IWWAGE convenes a powerful coalition of government, civil society, private sector, and thought leaders. Together, this ecosystem deliberates on solutions, engenders public will, and drives the systemic shifts necessary to accelerate women’s economic participation at scale.

These initiatives ensure that the voices and lived experiences of SHG women directly inform national policy design, institutionalising gender responsiveness from the grassroots upward.
